"Help! Someone is Copying me!" What to do.

Donna Maria, CEO of Indie Beauty Network, radio show host and producer, author, work shop organizer, and speaker has written an excellent article about what to do if (when) you discover someone is copying your business ideas. It can happen to any of us, and probably will the longer we are in business for ourselves, and often the perpetrator is a friend, and our reaction can be pretty emotional. Read Donna Maria's well written blog article and find out what you can do to weather this in your business. Thank you Donna Maria for this heads up guide.

Thanks for sharing my article with your readers. I agree with you that it's a vital issue for all business owners, especially Indies who connect with each other on so many levels. I hope your readers find it interest and helpful too! Thanks again!

A month ago, I read about a textile design graduate student who had copied the work of other illustrators and designers. It seemed that all of her fabric designs were complete rip-offs of other people's sketches, she hadn't even bothered to try to make them look any different...

She had even won an award based on those stolen desings, which was later regifted for someone else. Usually, copying is much more subtle and even when it's not that explicit, it's hard to believe why someone in the creative industries would do that.

I still get that sick feeling in my stomach when I see someone elses listing that looks so very similar to mine. I look forward to reading the article. I probably shouldn't but I find myself looking through my category on etsy all the time and when I see a design that is already listed that is similar to one that I have ready to list I hesitate about listing my own. It gets very frustrating because it feels like they beat you to the punch, but I don't want anyone to think that I copied their work.
